It’s “hook and lateral.” Because the receiver runs a hook and laterals it to another player. There’s no ladder involved. That’s one of those things that some dude misheard one day and repeated on the air and it caught on. I consider it my mission to correct this in the football world. Also part of my mission is getting play-by-play guys to quit referring to an end-around as a reverse and to get them to quit referring to a reverse as a double reverse. Otherwise, awesome post. Keep up the good work.
