What the Revolution Means to Me

Posted by cfaller96 On August - 31 - 2008

Note: before you read this post, read this by dex.

…to address the “don’t whine here” stance of the WLA…I hate this fucking attitude.

Second guessing the coach is part of what makes football fun for 99% of the world.

I don’t get this. Acting like a spoiled child who can’t accept a loss and/or a know-it-all who thinks he’s smarter than the coach doesn’t seem like a healthy way to go through life. Perhaps we could resurrect the corpse of Andrew Carnegie to discuss coping with things that are bad. Having said that, though, I confess that when dex describes this guy:

…you watch Michigan football for some sort of validation…you believe that “your” team winning brings you some sort of superiority…you believe that fans should “demand” excellence from the team they watch…you are defined as a person by which college team you cheer for…

He struck a chord with me, because I used to be that guy. In the stands I was a nasty meat-gazing SOB who never respected Moeller or Lloyd, never liked the playcalling, and never liked “our” players’ effort. I hated 8-4, and yet that seemed all that Michigan was capable of.

Utah: In Which Reality Commits Felonious Assault on Dex

Posted by dex On August - 31 - 2008

It’s 1 AM on Sunday morning now, and finally I am on a couch.

The Revolution, in my own mind, has always been a two tiered movement. There is the obvious connotation – a marked change in on-the-field approach and performance led by a coal miner from the hinterlands.

A more insidious and wide-reaching part of the Revolution is my true passion. I am a Michigan fan. Not a Michigan Man, but a fan. My enjoyment and passion for Michigan football has always been steady, with wins and losses nearly immaterial to me in the long run. I find intrigue in either.

Thanks

Posted by admin On August - 31 - 2008

A quick thanks to all that hung with us on liveblog yesterday, and to those that followed us back to our little home (even you, anonymous guy). An even larger, bigger, gayer thanks to Gsimms, who was kind enough to answer all your technique/strategy related questions for around 6 straight hours. If you want to learn something about football, and progress beyond observations like “Booooo we suck”, go read his blog, Three and Out. Now. Go.

You're Surprised? You Suck.

“A guy picks up a two dollar hooker one night. When he wakes up he finds out he has crabs. He goes and finds the hooker and says ‘Hey hooker! You gave me crabs.’ The hooker yells back ‘For two dollars, what did you expect? Lobster?”

If you’re surprised by the result, you’re an idiot.

If you’re pissed that they “blew it”, you’re an asshole.

If you think the coaches should have (insert asshat comment that you have no business commenting on because you have zero coaching experience and no fucking clue what you are talking about) then you should buy a bullet, rent a gun and do us all a favor.

If you want to question coaching, playing, training, conditioning or any other aspect of the game, you have lied to yourself all off-season. Because all I heard was the ‘we won’t be that good’ speech from everyone. So now that what you predicted comes to pass and you’re going to be pissed about it? Huh?
