So you were a rad dude. We were all rad dudes. And rad dudes grow up to be sports heroes and rock stars and captains of industry. Except none of us do. So we sit in our office or truck or home. We live that comfortable (and don’t get me wrong – pretty enjoyable) Fight Club existence of melodramatic self-loathing lifestyle.

Man must exercise control. This is not a debatable opinion, if art has taught us anything in the past 6,000 years. We must assert righteous truth upon something.

Unfortunately, sports is a crowded battlefield. With no clear truth and no hand in any outcome, those of us that pick the sports arena have a hard time finding that control. The power-seeking tribe members scream increasingly louder and consolidate. Because we’re naturally idiots, we tend to gravitate towards the loudest voice that is within the ballpark of our general philosophical outlook, searching for a leader among obnoxious idiots.

And that’s why we have FREEP VS. THE INTERWEBZ and “LOGIC” VS “IDIOTS” and every other debate in our little blogosphere. So today instead of calling someone a pig-fucking Nickelback fan, I’m going to tell you exactly what my problem with the underlying issue is.

It’s March, so the discourse has been dominated for about 5 months now by recruiting and general rabble. It’s a lethal mix of no team to unify and no games to focus our genius on. It’s a lot of unsubstantiated gristle.

There were incidents and accidents
There were hints and allegations

Nobody likes the dude who calls fouls. We even hate cops who are supposed to call real fouls in the real world. When you call fouls in sports, like, what’s the point dude? Just fucking play. And if someone is cheating all the time, it’ll screw’em eventually.

He doesn’t speak the language
He holds no currency

That’s why I hate the Archie Collins “saga” and every recruiting $tory. One sided, paranoid views that always boil down to “CHEATERZ”. If that’s how you watch sports, I have a hard time believing that’s not how you play sports. Where does the urge come from? Broken dreams? A desire to be close to the men living your ambitions, even through being their yelping purse dog?

Mike Rosenberg and bloggers that spread cheaters propaganda are the same dudes on different teams. Neither brings anything insightful. They don’t care about the real story, only their storyline. And I guess that’s just the sports commentary game. Take control by any means necessary. It’s always sad to see communities fall into that tar pit. Maybe it’s the homemade prozac, but lately it’s all been finally getting tired to me. But lately, the sun has also been shining …
